Spinal Decompression is an advanced traction system that applies a series of gentle repetitive distractions of the spine to cause a physiological change at the disc space. It allows for rehydration of the disc and the surrounding tissues which assists the body’s natural healing process. It is a conservative, non-invasive therapy, and may help reduce the need for oral pain medication. Many of our patients fall asleep or simply unwind while getting treatment as it is designed to promote relaxation and provide pain relief.

At mySpine, our Spinal Decompression treatment plans adhere to a three-step process, beginning with symptom relief and ending with self-sustained home exercise plans for long term results.
Our first goal is to provide pain or symptom relief. While it varies, most report a reduction of pain within the first six treatments. By reducing pain in this phase, we are able to advance the treatment and continue with the process.
In this phase we introduce in-house exercise rehabilitation programs in addition to the ongoing spinal decompression treatment. These programs are personalized and are intended to improve the mobility and stability of the affected muscles and joints. The goal is to promote healing by restoring movement quality with progressive program enhancements. Our exercise protocols prioritize sustainability and utilize body weight, light weights, resistance bands, physioballs, and foam rollers. Phase three marks the end of the spinal decompression treatment and the completion of the in-house exercise rehabilitation process. The goal is to transition to a self-sustaining Home Exercise Plan. The purpose of an HEP is to reinforce progress and maintain results for long lasting relief with exercises that you are familiar with and confident performing on your own. Regular, intentional, exercise is key to preventing future pain and injuries. We encourage follow up maintenance and progress check-ins to monitor your symptoms and post treatment satisfaction.
“Decompression creates a vacuum, or negative pressure, which draws nutrients, oxygen and fluids into the disc. By relieving pressure in the spine, increased circulation also occurs in the disc which is a vital aid in the healing process. Since these areas of the spine receive low circulation, this is a critical component of decompression. Through repetitive axial loading or distraction of the spine, a physiological change occurs at the disc space. This allows for rehydration of the disc and the surrounding tissues which assists the body’s natural healing process. The sensors in the table continually monitor the patient to ensure proper treatment is delivered.”
